At Rose and Reid Doodles we partner with My Loyal Hound and the Puppy System as another source of online dog training. Dre Nolon, is the founder of My Loyal Hound and creator of The Puppy System. In her 12+ years as a dog training coach, Dre has realized that many puppy behavior problems are easily preventable! As a result, she specializes in the critical early period of development. At Rose and Reid Doodles all of our parent dogs are genetically health tested through Embark Vet. Embark is an all-inclusive DNA test that tests for genetic health conditions relevant to our breed, clinical tools, and 215+ genetic variants associated with disease. Embark also test for coat and body traits so we can be sure to what parents to pair together to get furnished Goldendoodles, a better gauge at size, and more.
At Rose and Reid Doodles all of our parent dogs are physically health tested through either PennHIP or OFA. The tests our adult dogs are tested for include hips, elbows, cardiac and eyes. AIS PennHIP testing is accurate in puppies as young as 16 weeks of age. It gives an estimate of the risk for painful osteoarthritis (OA) of canine hip dysplasia (CHD) later in life. The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals is a database of radiographs (x-rays) and genetic tests that dog breeders use to try to produce the healthiest possible puppies. We do OFA hips, elbows, cardiac. OFA prelims can be done at anytime. If you do not see one of our dogs in the database it’s because prelims were done. OFA states, “preliminary evaluations of hip joint status in dogs are generally reliable.” If one of our dogs do not pass prelims we will either wash or retest at 2 years of age.
